KIDSAFE POSITION STATEMENT

The Safety Glass – Position Statement by Kidsafe was downloaded from the Kidsafe Victoria website on 18 October, 2017.

It was removed from the website that afternoon, apparently following a conversation between representatives of Kidsafe and Standards Australia.

At the time, the CEO of Kidsafe stated that it was “actively pursuing resolutions behind the scenes”, and did not want their “discussions compromised by rushing anything” or “run the risk that media will come across” the Position Statement at that time.

On 7 December, 2017 Kidsafe claimed that it “continues to actively pursue this issue”.

More than 18 months later, there has been no evidence of any such activity, nor of any outcomes, if any activity did take place.

In spite of their previous declarations, Kidsafe has remained silent on this issue while new lethal glass continues to be installed in homes and schools, and children are exposed to this as well as the previously installed lethal glass.
